Writer / Director

Born and raised in Los Angeles, writer-director JOSHUA KOPPLE attended NYU and UC Berkeley where he studied Political Science. Through working as an assistant in development at New Line Cinema and the William Morris Agency, Joshua decided he wanted to have a deeper impact not only on the stories being told but how they were told so he entered production.

After assisting editorial on the animated feature SHARK BAIT (Freddie Prinze Jr., Evan Rachel Wood), Joshua opened Filter Films, a maverick behind-the-scenes production company, where he has directed BTS docs on films like Rob Schneider’s BIG STAN, a trilogy of animated GARFIELD, THE LAST WORD starring Winona Ryder and Wes Bentley and the upcoming S DARKO, sequel to DONNIE DARKO, S DARKO.

During this time, Joshua also attended the UCLA Professional Program for Screenwriting where he sharpened his writing skills. In mid 2007, Joshua directed his first music video for the East Coast artist, Don Dilego, which won Best Music Video on Ourstage.com, beating out approximately 350 other music videos.

Joshua is now focusing his energy on THE TEMERITY OF ZIM, which saw its world premiere at South by Southwest and screened weeks later at the Vail Film Festival. With feature directing dead in his sights, Joshua is now working on a feature adaptation of ZIM.

Director of Photography

Two-time Sundance veteran, PATRICE LUCIEN COCHET received his MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute. He then went on to photograph "Better Luck Tomorrow," the daring coming of age story. The film was selected as part of the official dramatic competition at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and received tremendous critical acclaim for its visual approach.

"Technical credits are scorchingly good, especially Patrice Lucien Cochet's deadly satirical compositions." (Hollywood Reporter)

"Extraordinarily accomplished! It looks as glossy as a mega-million studio production."
(Roger Ebert, the film was shot for $150,000.)

Patrice returned to Sundance in 2007 with the Official Dramatic Competition film, "The Good Life,” starring Zooey Deschanel, Chris Klein, Patrick Fugit and Bill Paxton. And most recently, Patrice shot “Explicit Ills” for actor-turned-writer-director Mark Webber, starring Paul Dano.

Production Designer

ARAN MANN designed the beautiful sets for Cannes and Sundance Festival Award Winner ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW, the critically acclaimed film by Miranda July. As an assistant art director on MIAMI VICE and COLLATERAL, Aran dealt with multi-million dollar budgets and building homes and trailers from the ground up.

Composer

ALEC PURO most recently composed the score for the Sundance entry, THE GOOD NIGHT, starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Penelope Cruz. “Alec Puro's unobtrusively melodic score, which incorporating a tender composition Gary writes late in the picture, plays an especially significant role.” (Variety)
